No Carmina Gadelica or traditional Gaelic invocation specifically associated with cardamom has been identified. Cardamom is native to South India and has a long history in South Asian, Middle Eastern and later European culinary and medicinal traditions.

Black cardamom, *Amomum subulatum*, is a different species and should not be treated as botanically identical to true cardamom.
