**Brief introduction:**
Eleuthero is a deciduous, thorny shrub native to northeastern China, eastern Russia, Korea, and Japan. It produces small black berries and distinctive palmate leaves. Although commonly called "Siberian ginseng," it is not a species of *Panax* ginseng and belongs to a different genus. Its roots and root bark have been used in East Asian traditional medicine for centuries, particularly as a restorative tonic.
