Rediscovering the Lost Myth
In the veils of time, the original Gaelic primordial myth has vanished like mist before the rising sun, leaving behind naught but fragile fragments echoing the tales of neighboring cultures. It is in the gathering of these remnants, in weaving them with the threads of kindred traditions, that we embark on the sacred task of reconstruction. Much like modern science nurtures its roots in ancient wisdom, we, too, shall plant a new seed into the rich, fertile soil of our past—tending it with care so that it may flourish into a vibrant future.
The Holy Mother and the Birth of Creation
At the very dawn of existence, before the ticking of time began, there resided an inconceivable void—an expanse vast and boundless, a witness to all that was yet to be. Scholars and sages named this primordial nothingness Neamhni among the Druids, Annwyn to the Welsh, Ginnungagap to the Norse, and simply the Abyss in the hearts of desert peoples. Infinite in capacity and essence, this void bore within it a pulse—a gentle movement that heralded warmth, the very essence required for life to emerge. From this vital pulse arose a tone—IAO, AUM, YHWH—a reverberation that declared the name of the Creator, the self-begotten creatrix of all that is and shall be.
Before even the Divine was born, there existed the Holy Mother, a formidable presence whose womb echoes as the primordial depths from which all life springs. Should God be the spirit that swept across the waters of creation, then the Holy Mother embodies those very waters—fathomless and nurturing, where each being finds its genesis and to which all, even the Divine itself, must ultimately return. Across the ages, the births of divine figures from Horus to Thor, Ganesh to Christ, resonate with this ancient cosmology. The Virgin Mother cradles the divine fruit of existence, her essence woven into the fabric of life, and all that dwells is an ode sung in tribute to her. Our lives, our actions, become melodies, testaments woven into the harmony of this cosmic song.
The Creation of the World
Before the flicker of anything, before beginnings unfurled the tapestry of creation, there lay an expanse of profound non-being. This eternal void stretched infinitely—a field of ice, insatiable in its reach, perpetually consuming itself in radiant splendor. Yet from this deep silence, being stirred forth. In this stillness, a pulse swelled, blossoming into a tone—the sacred name that summoned existence into recognition. From the utterance of this name, the essence known as Anu (Being) emerged, setting life upon its destined path toward Saorse/ Gwynvydd—the realm of light and perfection.
Thus was born the triadic essence of existence:
Neamhni/Annwyn - That which is neither here nor there (Nothingness) - the Void
Adharta/Abred - That which is here (the path of growth) - The World
Soarse/Gwynvydd - That which we seek (the place of freedom) - Heaven
Sioruidheachd/Ceugant - That which is there (Where Dia alone may dwell)
For ages unnumbered, the earth coursed through cyclic rhythms of the icy gloom (Elivagr) and the fervent fires of vitality. This celestial dance endured until Llyr summoned forth the waters—both fresh and briny—mirroring the tales of the Enuma Elish. Anu, the divine craftsman, instituted their bounds, setting into motion the natural order.
The Great Renovator and the Birth of Life
As the warmth emerging from the core of being melted the icy grasp of Elivagr, the great renovator, known as Boann, Adumbla (or Nandi), came forth. She licked the salt from the thawing icicles, while Anu cloaked himself in the guise of an acorn, slipping into her embrace as she drank of the Elivagr's torrents. Within her, life rekindled, and she bore the seed of Bile/Belinos, symbolizing life’s ecstatic return.
At the moment of Llyr’s birth, the waters broke, cascading fresh and salty into the newly awakened Ginnungagap. The briny depths of Donn sank into the abyss while the sweet, pure waters of Anu rose upon high. Their union was so profound, so inextricable, that they became one flesh. From this cosmic womb emerged Anu, the first incarnate of the eternal dweller, taking form as a seed—a wandering acorn borne upon the waves.
The Emergence of the Earth
For countless epochs, Bile floated on the primordial waters, ensconced within his golden egg. When the first echo of the Trinity grew silent, he, alongside Anu and Donn, established a harmonized peace—a stillness so profound following an ocean of chaos that it heralded the dawn of creation anew. From this serene void, the earth mound emerged, marking the genesis of the world we inhabit.
A Hymn to the Holy Mother
All existence resounds with a hymn of gratitude to the Holy Mother, and in every act, we reverberate a melody in honor of her son. As we reconnect with these ancient myths, we find ourselves attuning our lives to the celestial symphony that courses through the veins of creation, aligning with the eternal forces that fashioned our world. In each season and for every reason, may peace and goodwill flourish upon this earth, mirroring the primordial harmony from which all life unfurled—an echo of the divine woven into the very essence of our being.
